About Us

Battle Bowls Club

Our bowls club was founded in 1905 and is located approximately half a kilometre east of the historic town of Battle ( 1066 ) in East Sussex. The club is affiliated to Sussex County Bowls and is an Associate Member of Bowls England.

We are welcoming new members to our friendly club. Please either fill in the form on the contact page or contact our membership secretary direct – Alison Collard on 01424 254299, email memsec@battlebowlsclub.org.uk or our club captain Roy Hyde on 07808- 294194, email chairman@battlebowlsclub.org.uk. Our philosophy is simple ‘enjoy your bowls’.

We have a 6 rink lawn bowls playing surface with a fully automatic irrigation system ensuring the green is always in tip-top condition. In normal years we play mainly mixed matches, our season commencing in April each year and closing in September. We participate in Rother League matches as well as having a comprehensive fixture list involving friendly matches with local clubs – see the links under Home above. Additionally, there are numerous  internal club competitions, which take place during the summer for those who wish to take part. We encourage bowlers of all skill levels to become involved and hold a ‘Spoon Drive’ rollup event each Thursday afternoon throughout the season, weather permitting. This event provides an opportunity for potential bowlers to ‘try their hand’ perhaps with a view to becoming a club member, and for experienced bowlers to have a fun afternoon. It’s very much a social occasion, with a hint of a competitive edge. Just a hint!
