Welcome to 2023!

Our green opening is on Saturday 22rd April and there will be an Invitation Day on Sunday 23rd. We look forward to seeing you all on the green if not before!

We have planned a full season of both friendly and Rother League matches, as well as our popular weekly Thursday afternoon Spoon Drives (Roll-ups), and there will be several informal club competitions.  The club championships will run throughout the season, culminating in Finals Weekend on September 2nd and 3rd.

New members are very welcome.  There will be Taster Days in early May and other regular opportunities to try out some bowling.  Contact Alison Collard (Membership Secretary), email memsec@battlebowlsclub.org.uk or Roy Hyde (Captain) on 07808 294194, email chairman@battlebowlsclub.org.uk for information.

Green Opening 2022

On Saturday 23rd April, Bill Thomas, 102 years old, rolled the first wood as Battle Bowls Club formally opened their green for the 2022 season. The club, current Rother League champions, are hoping for a full programme of fixtures for the first time since 2019.

David Thomas (no relation) of Project Leaders Ltd presented the club’s President, Bruce Cripps, with a state of the art Automatic External Defibrillator device (AED) to supplement the club’s existing First Aid capability for their members. Bruce thanked David for his company’s kind donation and confirmed that the club currently has four members trained in its use and is committed to expanding this with further training.

Taster Days

We normally have two Taster Days at the club before the season gets going for prospective new members to come along and meet us and try out the game of bowls. Bowls provided just bring flat shoes and wear comfortable clothing. The first of these will be on Saturday morning 30th April 2022 at 10am, lasting until approximately 12 noon.

We will also be running drop-in on the first Thursday evenings in each month, the next one on June 2nd, from about 6pm.

Contact our Membership Secretary, Alison Collard on memsec@battlebowlsclub.org.uk or our Captain, Roy Hyde on chairman@battlebowlsclub.org.uk for more information and if possible to let us know if you plan to attend so we can make sure we have the necessary equipment.
